How is an EPC calculated?
No two properties are the same. Each property has its own heating and heat loss characteristics. To calculate an EPC seventeen pieces of information need to be collected relating to that specific property.
Some of the information required is a follows:
Floor Area & Ceiling Heights.
Composition of External Walls.
Number of Fireplaces.
Type of Heating System.
Type of Windows.
Type of Heating Controls.
Number of low energy light fittings.
Once all the information has been gathered by the DEA, they pass the information in software that calculates the EPC rating for the building. The software factors in all the input information to calculate the energy rating.
