Society has long treated affordable energy as an endless resource, leading to significant energy waste across households and businesses in Northern Ireland. Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) are an essential step toward addressing this inefficiency.
EPCs provide essential information about the energy efficiency of a house or building and, more importantly, offer recommendations to improve its performance. Shane McKenna is a graduate of Queen’s University Belfast, where he earned both a degree and a master’s in Mechanical Engineering. Following his graduation, Shane began his career with Taylor & Fegan (T&F) Mechanical & Electrical Consulting Engineers. His responsibilities included designing and supervising large-scale heating and ventilation installations as well as conducting energy assessments.
During his time at T&F, Shane oversaw projects valued at over £1 million. Seeking to specialise further in energy assessment, he left T&F and, in March 2008, founded Ember Energy NI. Since its establishment, the company has grown steadily and is now recognised as one of the leading providers of domestic and commercial energy assessment services in Greater Belfast and the surrounding areas.
